  Definition A caption is a short text above or below an image in a book, magazine, or newspaper that describes the image or explains what the person in it did or said. Structure can be :  a. Action, event, or activity.  b. People or things that are involved.  c. Condition, what happened in the picture.  d. who or where the picture was published. Language Elements 1.  Caption text must be short. 2. Caption text, uses noun phrases. 3. Caption text, uses verb phrases.
