Caption Text

 


Definition

A caption is a short text above or below an image in a book, magazine, or newspaper that describes the image or explains what the person in it did or said.

Structure

can be : 

a. Action, event, or activity. 
b. People or things that are involved. 
c. Condition, what happened in the picture. 
d. who or where the picture was published.

Language Elements

1.  Caption text must be short.
2. Caption text, uses noun phrases.
3. Caption text, uses verb phrases.

Part 2

I'll show you how to made caption text properly. There are several things to note including:

  • Check the facts. Be accurate with credit lines, details and anything else that might catch a reader’s eye.
  • Captions should add new information. Don’t merely repeat the story headline or summary, and avoid stating the obvious elements that are captured in the image.
  • Always identify the main people in the photograph.
  • A photograph captures a moment in time. Whenever possible, use present tense. This creates a sense of immediacy and impact.
  • Conversational language works best. Write the caption as though you are talking to a family member or friend.
  • The tone of the caption should match the tone of the image. Don’t try to be humorous when the photo is not.

Procedure Text

  Definition Procedure text  is a text that is designed to describe how something is achieved through a sequence of actions or steps. It explains how people perform different processes in a sequence of steps. This text uses simple present tense, often imperative sentences. It also uses the temporal conjunction such as first, second, then, next, finally, etc.   Structure of Text Procedure Procedure text has three structures including : 1.      Purpose, contains the purpose of making the procedure text or the final result to be achieved (can be in the form of a title) 2.      Material, contains information about the tools or materials needed, but not all procedure texts contain this section (commonly found in recipes). 3.      Steps, contains the methods taken to achieve the goal. Exposition Text

  Definition Exposition text is text that contains a brief, concise and clear invitation. This text usually has the characteristics of answering questions in the form of what, who, where, when, why, and how. The text of the exposition is composed of the same structure that compiles an opinion or editorial, in which there are three important elements, namely a statement of opinion, an argument and a restatement of opinion. Purpose The purpose of the exposition text is to provide information so that it can add to the reader’s knowledge. Readers are expected to add precise, detailed, and clear knowledge of things and events. Generic Structure TITLE The title should describe something discussed in the Exposition text.
